Institute of Propellants and Explosives Urged to Innovate and Develop New Military Products
On February 18, in Hanoi, a delegation from the General Department of National Defense Industry (CNQP), led by Major General Đinh Quốc Hùng, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of the General Department, visited and worked at the Institute of Propellants and Explosives.
Accompanying the delegation were leaders and commanders from various functional agencies of CNQP.
At the meeting, Colonel Phạm Văn Toại, Director of the Institute, presented a report on the unit’s achievements in 2024 and objectives for 2025.
In 2024, the Institute executed 28 scientific and technological projects, including:
- 2 National-Level Independent Projects
- 1 National-Level Sub-Project
- 5 Ministry of National Defense-Level Projects
- 8 Ministry of National Defense-Level Sub-Projects
All projects were implemented according to plan, ensuring safety standards. The institute’s research outcomes met the required technical and tactical specifications, with some products qualified for initial production (“Batch 0”). Furthermore, the institute successfully manufactured demonstration ammunition and explosive devices on schedule and at the required quality level.
Scientific Research and Production Milestones in 2024
In 2024, the institute:
- Completed and successfully assessed 11 projects
- Launched 3 new Ministry of National Defense projects and 1 CNQP project
- Developed 21 technical innovations, some of which received General Department-level awards and top prizes in the 25th Military Youth Innovation Awards
The production of defense-related items (e.g., training explosives, training breaching charges, and paper tubes) met quality and schedule requirements. Meanwhile, industrial explosive material production was executed successfully, ensuring stable employment and income for workers.
Total revenue from economic production and scientific services exceeded 211 billion VND.
The institute also maintained strong political and organizational stability, ensuring a cohesive and disciplined workforce that aligns with higher-level directives and strategic goals.
Strategic Goals for 2025
For 2025, the Institute of Propellants and Explosives will:
- Revise and refine its science and technology development strategy for 2023-2025, with a vision toward 2030
- Align research priorities with military needs and defense industry strategies
- Continue executing key scientific and technological projects
- **Submit two scientific research works for the State Prize and the Hồ Chí Minh Prize in Science and Technology
- Ensure production and acceptance testing of defense and training products on schedule
- Expand commercial production and scientific services
- Successfully organize the institute’s internal Party Congresses
