Vietnam Secures 16 Contracts Worth Over $286 Million at the International Defense Exhibition
At the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024, the General Department of Defense Industry and Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group successfully signed 16 contracts with a total value of approximately $286.3 million USD.
On December 22, the Ministry of National Defense held a review and commendation conference for the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024.
Successful Execution & High-Level Participation
Major General Lê Quang Tuyến, Deputy Director of the General Department of Defense Industry, reported that the exhibition was a remarkable success, ensuring absolute security and safety in all aspects.
The grand opening ceremony was held with high-level attendance, featuring:
- The Prime Minister of Vietnam
- Over 1,000 delegates
- 242 domestic and international enterprises
- 66 international delegations
Additionally, the event hosted nearly 12,000 officers and soldiers from various military units, with:
- 20 aircraft
- Nearly 3,000 pieces of military equipment
- 118 military working dogs
By 12:00 PM on December 22, the exhibition had welcomed over 260,000 visitors, including both the general public and industry professionals.
Expanding Global Defense Cooperation
The exhibition provided a valuable platform for Vietnam’s defense enterprises to engage in direct discussions with foreign defense companies.
The Organizing Committee facilitated 1,872 bilateral meetings, allowing:
- Vietnamese defense companies to showcase their products and capabilities
- International enterprises to explore potential partnerships and investment opportunities
As a result, Vietnam’s defense industry received numerous orders from foreign partners for:
- Infantry weapons
- Ammunition (small-caliber rounds, mortar shells, artillery shells)
- Commercial and defense vessels
- Propellants and explosives for both military and civilian applications
- Other defense-related economic products


Key Contracts & Strategic Agreements
According to Major General Lê Quang Tuyến, the General Department of Defense Industry and Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group signed 16 contracts worth $286.3 million USD, including:
- 11 contracts signed by the General Department of Defense Industry, valued at $278.3 million USD
- 5 contracts signed by Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group, worth $8 million USD
Additionally, Vietnam’s defense industry signed 17 strategic cooperation agreements with leading defense enterprises from countries with advanced defense industries, including the United States, India, France, and Belgium.

The exhibition hosted specialized discussions over four days, featuring:
- 52 presentations
- Two main topics covered in seven discussion sessions
